Neverland
Oh so many years agoWhen I lived with Mom and Dad
I never took the time
To look at all the time I had
I never went too far away
Whenever I went out and played
I didn't have the courage
Because I was afraid
And I didn't ever
Want to live life as a man
I didn't want to pay those bills
To work hard and to plan
I liked the age when girls were cute
When we were treated all the same
When I was naive and resolute
And life was just a game
And each night, before I went to bed
I'd recall how my day had been.
I'd zip up my pajamas
And my folks would tuck me in.
They'd turn off the lights
And in the dark I'd close my eyes
I'd whisper my goodnights
And wait for the sun to rise
But in those few hours
Between bedtime and the dawn
I traveled far away
And still I journeyed further on.
Past the north star into space
I'd quietly embrace,
As I traveled to a place
Where dreams are born
I never need to pack
Just fly alone on track
Though I'd always come back
Before the morn'
It's the place
That all kids understand
Where Peter Pan rules the lagoon
Where evil Captain Hook
Who lost his other hand
Is always busy plotting to strike soon
Where kids make their own toys
And they rule their own nation
A bunch of little ol' lost boys
With their big imagination
And they all enjoy the thrill
To have time standing still
To live there forever young
They can't stand to grow old
But we all will, we're told
One day when the pinch of age has stung
But for now there we are
Just north of the north star
A place that all kids understand
Where we can beat the cap'n
Hey anything can happen
In the small island they all call Neverland
But each morning I awake
And I'm back at home
The lost boys are still lost
And again I feel alone
These were the days of recess
When we played on the slide
When I took my teddy bear everywhere
And kept my blanket by my side.
And each day I'd yearn,
To have one day more so grand
And each night I'd return
To the place called Neverland.
It's the place
That all kids understand
Where Peter Pan rules the lagoon
Where evil Captain Hook
Who lost his other hand
Is always busy plotting to strike soon
Where kids make their own toys
And they rule their own nation
A bunch of little ol' lost boys
With their big imagination
And they all enjoy the thrill
To have time standing still
To live there forever young
They can't stand to grow old
But we all will, we're told
One day when the pinch of age has stung
But for now there we are
Just north of the north star
A place that all kids understand
Where we can beat the cap'n
Hey anything can happen
In the small island they all call Neverland
